STUDIO CLASSES

Weekly classes 1-2 hours long for grades 1-12…

  • Class sizes are small to insure a safe and nurturing environment. This allows students to explore more freely as well as to receive individual attention.
  • Classes consist of improvisation games, scene study, movement, technique, character development, audition preparation, voice and diction, and an opportunity to build self-confidence
  • Family and Friends observation day will be during the last class of the session

Fairfield Performing Arts Studio Summer Camp consists of acting, singing, and dancing instruction! Campers are split into three groups, by age, and rotate to three different classes throughout the day. The camp provides a physically and emotionally safe environment to provide optimal conditions for growth and learning as both an actor and a person all while having a fun, exciting, and inspirational experience. A typical day consists of group warm ups and dance; acting classes, voice classes, and dance classes; a snack and lunch; improvisation and theater games; stage makeup and costuming; prop and set design art sessions; and of course, staging and rehearsing the musical.

For students looking for more in-depth training, Jennifer Kenny teaches specialized sessions. The curriculum is designed to provide actors with beginning and intermediate professional theatre training. Actors will focus on: monologue study, scene study, audition preparation, character development, sense memory, improvisation, dialogue, subtext, voice and diction, theatre vocabulary, and techniques necessary for professional or upper-level theatrical productions.

Testimonials

  • I LOVE FPAS! It's really fun getting to act, sing and dance every day! The best part is doing a full performance on a stage at the end, complete with costumes and sets. I really enjoy it and recommend it to anyone who wants to have fun learning about all the things that go into performing a show.

  • Fairfield Performing Arts Studio has been a huge part of my life for five years. The three weeks of camp is always the highlight of my summer. Thanks to this camp, my acting, singing, and dance has improved dramatically, and the way the counselors teach keep all of us wanting to learn even more. I think I can speak for all the campers when I say this camp is an amazing opportunity to have a taste of acting on a professional stage. As soon as my first year there was over, I knew I'd want to keep returning. All the learning aside, it's also a friendly environment where everyone feels comfortable. I've made some incredible friends that are still returning to camp with me to this day. All in all, FPAS is an educational but fun experience that every new (or returning) actor/actress should try.

  • Fairfield Performing Arts is such an amazing camp. It really helps me to step out of my comfort zone when acting, dancing, or singing. I love learning about the process of doing a play through games and other fun activities. I always look forward to coming back months before the summer even starts!

  • Fairfield Performing Arts camp makes me want to come back every day with nice counselors, fun classes and great costumes. It is so much fun and I love everything about it!

  • My nine-year old daughter is a HUGE fan of Jennifer's drama program! She has learned so much about what goes into the production of a show, even on a small scale and she has enjoyed the process - from script introduction to the "final curtain" - immensely.  Jennifer makes learning fun and the kids take so much pride in the finished product... you can see it in their faces as they take their final bows. After multiple sessions in Jennifer's winter and spring classes, my daughter is now REALLY excited for the three-week summer camp program!

  • My daughter has done classes with Jennifer and Fairfield Performing Arts for 3 years now and she always enjoys class and is sad when a session is over.  Jennifer has such a way with the children and they all blossom under her tutelage!  It is such a fun, low pressure but high learning environment, Jennifer has the formula down!  All of the children are so happy to be in that room for the hour!

  • Dear Jennifer – I just wanted to shoot off a quick email letting you know that Annamarie really enjoyed herself tonight. Although hesitant at first, she went in with an open mind and thoroughly absorbed everything you taught. She wished that the class was longer and can not wait for next week. Thank you for your time and energy.

  • Walking into Fairfield Performing Arts Studio summer camp every June is a moment I look forward to all year. Jennifer's lessons in acting, singing and dancing not only made me a well- rounded performer with skills in every aspect of musical theatre, but also allowed me to grow as a person and meet many lifelong friends. Jen's trust in me with many difficult roles and her guidance in helping me execute them while still creating a wonderful camp experience and has made my three years at her summer camp an unforgettable experience!

  • Hello Jennifer, I really like your acting class, and although I forgot my lines once and improvised, it is all around awesome. What I like most about your class is that you motivate us (along with your assistants) as hard as you can. And also I like that if we dislike our parts (like I didn’t want to be Mr. Smee), you always find a way to help us believe in ourselves and like the part. I also like the emotion games because it’s fun and it teaches me how to express myself on stage.

  • We have looked and looked for the best acting programs around. This one hit the mark! Caroline loves her acting class, and it has been a treat for everyone! We are definitely signing up for the next sessions. Every child in our class returned – that says it all!

  • I have been going to the FPAS summer camp since it began, and every year I get even more excited to go! I've really learned to be myself there by bonding with so many amazing people. This camp is where I first fell in love with acting, singing, dancing, and where I get to strengthen my skills by being challenged with some of the best counselors and the best cast mates. It truly is a great summer and life experience, I gained many friendships, supporters, and mentors through this camp. Thank you Jen and all the counselors for everything you've done for me!!

  • Abbi is excited to go to camp every morning and can’t wait to tell us about her day when I pick her up! Such a refreshing change from the traditional camp experience. I can see that this program is artistically enriching for all age levels, a self confidence builder, educational and at the same time loads of fun, with making crafts, games and the rehearsals! I love that the children are a part of this production from the ground up!

  • I've spent my last 4 summers at Fairfield Performing Arts Studio's summer camp. Over time, I have learned so much about myself not only as a performer, but also as a person. With the guidance of Jen and her team of amazing counselors, I've gained a great deal of self-confidence. With this, I have honed my skills as an actor, singer, and dancer. In the process I have also made some of my closest friends who have supported me along the way. I would highly recommend FPAS to any young, aspiring actor/actress who is looking for a fun, nurturing environment in which they can perfect their craft. I credit the camp for helping me discover my true passion, and I can't wait for this summer!
