STUDIO CLASSES

Weekly classes 1-2 hours long for grades 1-12…

  • Class sizes are small to insure a safe and nurturing environment. This allows students to explore more freely as well as to receive individual attention.
  • Classes consist of improvisation games, scene study, movement, technique, character development, audition preparation, voice and diction, and an opportunity to build self-confidence
  • Family and Friends observation day will be during the last class of the session

Fairfield Performing Arts Studio Summer Camp consists of acting, singing, and dancing instruction! Campers are split into three groups, by age, and rotate to three different classes throughout the day. The camp provides a physically and emotionally safe environment to provide optimal conditions for growth and learning as both an actor and a person all while having a fun, exciting, and inspirational experience. A typical day consists of group warm ups and dance; acting classes, voice classes, and dance classes; a snack and lunch; improvisation and theater games; stage makeup and costuming; prop and set design art sessions; and of course, staging and rehearsing the musical.

For students looking for more in-depth training, Jennifer Kenny teaches specialized sessions. The curriculum is designed to provide actors with beginning and intermediate professional theatre training. Actors will focus on: monologue study, scene study, audition preparation, character development, sense memory, improvisation, dialogue, subtext, voice and diction, theatre vocabulary, and techniques necessary for professional or upper-level theatrical productions.

  • Fairfield Performing Arts camp makes me want to come back every day with nice counselors, fun classes and great costumes. It is so much fun and I love everything about it!

  • FPAS helps develop self-confidence in our child, in addition to singing, dancing and acting skills. Moreover, the quality of the production that was presented after just 3 weeks is impressive! My daughter loves the programs and camps of FPAS!

  • If you asked me nine months ago, "do you think that acting will help your shyness?" I would say that you’re crazy!  But it turns out that I was completely wrong and that taking these acting classes not only helped with my shyness but my confidence and creativity as well.  That is all thanks to Jennifer and FPAS!!

  • My daughters have been involved with FPAS for many years.  The after school classes are a great introduction to acting, and the summer camp is just amazing.  The quality of the production that is put together after only 3 weeks of camp is remarkable.  Jennifer is wonderful with the students--getting them all involved and helping each child feel comfortable on stage.  I've seen increased confidence in my girls that has carried over to other areas of their lives.  They have thoroughly enjoyed their time with the program.  I highly recommend FPAS for all ages!

  • I had so much fun in class tonight. It was awesome doing the improvs….I like how the class was not intimidating and the kids were so friendly. I felt like I could be myself.

  • My nine-year old daughter is a HUGE fan of Jennifer's drama program! She has learned so much about what goes into the production of a show, even on a small scale and she has enjoyed the process - from script introduction to the "final curtain" - immensely.  Jennifer makes learning fun and the kids take so much pride in the finished product... you can see it in their faces as they take their final bows. After multiple sessions in Jennifer's winter and spring classes, my daughter is now REALLY excited for the three-week summer camp program!

  • My daughter has attended the summer camp at FAIRFIELD PERFORMING ARTS STUDIO for the past three years and absolutely loves it!! She says it's the ONLY camp she ever wants to attend. The smile on her face each day when I pick her up is priceless. She always makes such wonderful friends and gains so much confidence.  Most of all, to see the end result of all their hard works is amazing!! The show they put together in just THREE weeks blows me away every time. Jen really makes the kids fall in love with theatre.

  • Fairfield Performing Arts Studio has been a huge part of my life for five years. The three weeks of camp is always the highlight of my summer. Thanks to this camp, my acting, singing, and dance has improved dramatically, and the way the counselors teach keep all of us wanting to learn even more. I think I can speak for all the campers when I say this camp is an amazing opportunity to have a taste of acting on a professional stage. As soon as my first year there was over, I knew I'd want to keep returning. All the learning aside, it's also a friendly environment where everyone feels comfortable. I've made some incredible friends that are still returning to camp with me to this day. All in all, FPAS is an educational but fun experience that every new (or returning) actor/actress should try.

  • Hello Jennifer, I really like your acting class, and although I forgot my lines once and improvised, it is all around awesome. What I like most about your class is that you motivate us (along with your assistants) as hard as you can. And also I like that if we dislike our parts (like I didn’t want to be Mr. Smee), you always find a way to help us believe in ourselves and like the part. I also like the emotion games because it’s fun and it teaches me how to express myself on stage.

  • I feel like I’m learning so much with you. I have learned more about how to get into character and be honest in that one hour lesson than I have with my other acting coach that I’ve been working with for over a year. I am so interested in working with you in these classes – I just cannot wait.

  • FPAS is amazing!  My 8 year old daughter began taking classes last September and ended up continuing the whole year, we loved it so much.  Jennifer is wonderful...her kind, gentle way put my daughter at ease immediately and it was incredible to see her confidence grow.  From each class to each performance...she could not wait to go each week.  When I asked her what her favorite part was her response was "All of it!"  It has been a very special experience for her and we look forward to beginning again in September!

  • My son absolutely loves going to acting class at Fairfield Performing Arts Studio. Being his first real experience on “stage,” Jennifer helped him gain the confidence to perform all types of characters and emotions. Owen has made several new friends at FPAS from across the Fairfield elementary schools that all share common interests. As a parent, I love that he is learning to work together as a team and support each other to put together a performance in just a few short weeks. He can’t wait for summer camp and looks forward to many more memories and performances with FPAS!

  • I've spent my last 4 summers at Fairfield Performing Arts Studio's summer camp. Over time, I have learned so much about myself not only as a performer, but also as a person. With the guidance of Jen and her team of amazing counselors, I've gained a great deal of self-confidence. With this, I have honed my skills as an actor, singer, and dancer. In the process I have also made some of my closest friends who have supported me along the way. I would highly recommend FPAS to any young, aspiring actor/actress who is looking for a fun, nurturing environment in which they can perfect their craft. I credit the camp for helping me discover my true passion, and I can't wait for this summer!

  • Fairfield Performing Arts is such an amazing camp. It really helps me to step out of my comfort zone when acting, dancing, or singing. I love learning about the process of doing a play through games and other fun activities. I always look forward to coming back months before the summer even starts!

  • My daughter has done classes with Jennifer and Fairfield Performing Arts for 3 years now and she always enjoys class and is sad when a session is over.  Jennifer has such a way with the children and they all blossom under her tutelage!  It is such a fun, low pressure but high learning environment, Jennifer has the formula down!  All of the children are so happy to be in that room for the hour!
