Grades 3-5 & Grades 5-8
This is an improvisational workout geared towards helping actors find creativity and enhance their skills as a performer. Actors are trained to follow their instincts on stage through exercises that focus on performing scenes with little or no rehearsal. It is important for students at this age to let go of how they feel they should perform, and instead start to just be on stage. To free the actor from their own pre-conceived notions of a role, or scene, and to produce a more versatile and daring actor, in depth character work is encouraged. Parent observation day will be during the last class of the session, where we will perform scenes and improvised skits.
When my daughter booked her first Lead in a Feature Film, we did private lessons with Jennifer and she really helped Lindsey prepare for her role. Her schedule was flexible, she was patient and enthusiastic and even patiently answered all of my questions! Everyone on set was so impressed with how prepared Lindsey was for someone so young, and that is in great part thanks to Jennifer. We came back again for private lessons to prepare for a Broadway audition, and I can’t say enough good things about Jennifer and Fairfield Performing Arts!
Hi Jennifer. I just wanted to tell you that Elizabeth is super excited for summer camp. When I told her the two plays, she was so happy, and when I reminded her last night that today was registration, her eyes lit up, and she said it was her "5th favorite day of the year". I assumed she meant after Christmas, her birthday, and some other holidays, but she said, "No, camp is way better than Christmas. My favorite days are 1) the first summer camp performance, 2) the second camp performance, 3) the first day of the first session of camp, 4) the first day of the second session of camp, and 5) camp registration day!"
I just thought you'd like to know how much she LOVES camp! :)
My children have participated in FPAS camps and classes for over five years and have grown tremendously due to the passionate, thoughtful, and creative instruction, the dedication and encouragement of the teachers, and the warm and inviting atmosphere as well as the strong friendships they have made. The experience has been exceptional on so many levels -- like no other!
My daughter has attended the summer camp at FAIRFIELD PERFORMING ARTS STUDIO for the past three years and absolutely loves it!! She says it's the ONLY camp she ever wants to attend. The smile on her face each day when I pick her up is priceless. She always makes such wonderful friends and gains so much confidence. Most of all, to see the end result of all their hard works is amazing!! The show they put together in just THREE weeks blows me away every time. Jen really makes the kids fall in love with theatre.
At Fairfield Performing Arts Studio I learn acting, dancing and singing. Before I went to FPAS I tried acting camps and classes, they weren't fun. But when I went to FPAS my mind opend up to acting, singing, dancing and being on stage.
Jennifer,I just want to thank you for running the best camp ever! Luke loves LOVES everything about your shows: the counsellors (especially Robbie), the material, the classes and rehearsals and the final performances. You have certainly given him a deep love of musical theatre. Thank you.Luke has made me promise that we will come back to Fairfield for a summer sometime in the future so that he can join your camp again. I will do my best....so here's hoping our paths cross again in a couple of years' time! Please pass on my congratulations and appreciation to your staff - they are an amazing group, truly inspiring. Thanks again and good luck with Peter Pan!
