Fairfield Performing Arts Studio Summer Camp consists of acting, singing, and dancing instruction! Campers are split into three groups, by age, and rotate to three different classes throughout the day. The camp provides a physically and emotionally safe environment to provide optimal conditions for growth and learning as both an actor and a person all while having a fun, exciting, and inspirational experience. A typical day consists of group warm ups and dance; acting classes, voice classes, and dance classes; a snack and lunch; improvisation and theater games; stage makeup and costuming; prop and set design art sessions; and of course, staging and rehearsing the musical. Preparation and rehearsal for the performance begins in the first few days. Rehearsal time expands as the camp progresses. FPAS camp is open to students entering grades 2-11 in the fall of 2019.
Jennifer Kenny, the director of FPAS, leads and directs the camp and performance, and is assisted by a team of adults and young adults that specialize in various aspects of musical theatre. Performances for this summer’s camp sessions are Mary Poppins, Jr. (Session #1) and Legally Blonde, Jr. (Session #2) and will take place at the Quick Center at Fairfield University.
